I’m a Durham Region native, pleased to be practicing in the place that I’ve always considered home.  It’s a privilege to be a member of the local bar, and to be part of the fantastic team of professionals at Nolan Persaud.

I remember wanting to be a lawyer when I was 9 years old, but later contemplated journalism, completing a combined honours degree at the University of Western Ontario in English and Media, Information, and Technoculture. The pull of the law was strong though, and I went on to complete my LL.B. at the University of Windsor Law School and my J.D. at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

I began my legal career in medical malpractice defense litigation at a large firm in Detroit, Michigan, but missed my home in Canada. This experience led me to the life sciences field, where I held various positions over the following 15 years, including corporate compliance and marketing / regulatory counsel, in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors.

During COVID, I re-evaluated my career and those areas of practice that would be most fulfilling to me, but also beneficial to the community I am a part of. I engaged in an intense year of professional development and pivoted my practice to provide services primarily in the areas of family law and estate planning, though I still enjoy providing counsel on certain business and employment related matters. My passion for ongoing learning and development, along with my diverse professional background and dedication to providing quality service, helps me to be an effective advocate for and counsellor to my clients.

Giving back to the community is important to me. I am a past board member and President of the YWCA Durham.  I currently volunteer at Luke’s Place, which offers family law support to women impacted by intimate partner violence.

The ethical treatment of animals is an issue close to my heart, and I have 3 dogs who keep me very active in my leisure time! Animals are truly a part of our families and not to be forgotten when contemplating a will or domestic agreement.
